b. June 5, 1828, in Greene County, Ohio; d. July 28, 1903, in Morrisonville, Illinois. White studied law in Ohio, and in 1853, he opened a law office in Springfield, Illinois, after being admitted to the bar. In 1857, he was elected for an eight-year term as prosecuting attorney for the Eighteenth Judicial District, which was composed of Sangamon, Macoupin, Montgomery, and Christian Counties. That same year he also formed a partnership with George W. Shutt. White retired from the law in 1867.
